Pastor Meredith Dark

I have grown up in The United Methodist Church, and am excited for the privilege to serve and work alongside all of you. I grew up at Surfside UMC, and attended Socastee High School my freshman year. My mother remarried and our new family relocated to Pamplico, SC, where I graduated from Hannah-Pamplico High School. My educational pursuits include Wofford College and Emory University's Candler School of Theology. I have had the pleasure of serving Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church in West Columbia, The Oaks in Orangeburg, and First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach (First Church).
Throughout the scriptures, God calls us to be faithful. My senior year of college I had the opportunity to travel to the Holy Land, and one of the experiences we had was a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee. This past March a small group from First Church joined a group of over sixty people and we were also able to experience riding on the Sea of Galilee. The Sea of Galilee is where Jesus called his disciples. I remembered the first ride on the Sea of Galilee knowing that Jesus was calling me to serve Him, and was overcome by God's faithfulness within the call this past March. God is faithful, and we are all called to be faithful, as followers, to God. God does not ask us to be perfect, but God does expect us to worship God in all that we do and in all that we are. The scripture from the Gospel of Mark details what fervor Simon and Andrew had at following Christ's call to follow him: "As Jesus passed along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea - for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, 'Follow me and I will make you fish for people.' And immediately they left their nets and followed him" (1:16-18). I see everything I do in ministry as an act of worship to God.
