Sonshiner's    (4 Years Old)

“The greatest sign of a success for a teacher…is to be able to say, “The children are now working as if I did not exist.”
– Maria Montessori

Many of the children in our Sonshiner classes reach a level of self direction and concentration that our teachers can act as guides for the children during their work time. These children also receive instruction in early reading skills, mathematical concepts, science and social studies. They too join the school for worship in Chapel, have music education, and PE/health weekly. There is always time for art, and outside play as well. There are two teachers in each class of no more that 12 children.
Upon graduation from TLC, our Sonshiners are ready to participate in their kindergarten classrooms knowing that they are valuable creations of God with purpose and joy. They are leaving a scheduled eventful half day of learning activities prepared for the longer day in kindergarten.
We strive to provide a warm, caring and learning enriched atmosphere for our children. Those who attend The Learning Center benefit from a well prepared staff who strive to promote a positive, pleasant learning environment for each child. The children learn to love God, themselves and others, as their purpose and importance in God’s world is enhanced.

Why Provide Weekday Programs for Children and Their Families?

The church believes that each child is a child of God and should have every opportunity to develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually to the fullest potential.
The church is called to ministry, caring for children, showing concern for families, and providing support and nurture for its own congregation and for the surrounding community.
Children and parents in the congregation and in the community need these programs and need support for their lives.
A weekday program is one way for the church to live out the message of God's love expressed through Jesus Christ.
The church has the facilities needed for weekday programs and wants to be a good steward of the space.
Members of the congregation see this weekday ministry as a way to live out the gospel in the community.
